I am writing to express my sharp opposition to this proposed waiver and extension for the NACTEP program. This move is yet another symptom of an administration that has completely lost its way, helmed by an Education Secretary whose appointment feels less like a serious governance decision and more like a live-action reenactment of the movie Idiocracy. It is insulting to the American public to watch an unqualified Secretary, whose primary credential appears to be entertainment industry promotion rather than educational leadership, attempt to manage the complexities of our nation’s school systems. Much like the cabinet in that satirical dystopia, this leadership team consistently prioritizes political maneuvering over actual competence or expertise. Extending these projects without a new, competitive process is not "efficiency"—it is stagnation. It reflects a total lack of vision and an inability to foster the kind of rigorous, merit-based oversight that our students deserve. We are essentially watching an unqualified administration coast through its responsibilities, shuffling paperwork to avoid the heavy lifting of real policy implementation, all while the quality of our educational infrastructure continues to crater. This department has become a caricature of itself. We are past the point of expecting actual educational expertise; instead, we are subjected to a leadership style that treats the Department of Education like a secondary venture in branding and performative "reform." The taxpayers, students, and educators of this country deserve a Secretary who is fundamentally qualified to lead, not one whose tenure feels like a recurring punchline. I urge you to reject this lazy, status-quo-preserving extension and restore a modicum of integrity and professionalism to the Department.
