Summary: Oglala Lakota College is requesting an extension of the NACTEP grant to continue funding its Vocational Education Department. Oglala Lakota College is a recipient of the NACTEP grant. The grant funds a majority of the Vocational Education Department. It covers Salaries, travel, supplies for CTE programs and student stipends for work-based learning.
The grant is scheduled to end on September 30, 2026. A new funding opportunity has not been released at this time. An extension of the current grant would assist OLC with funding the program for another year. This opportunity will help OLC provide vocational students with a quality education.
The OLC Vocational Education Department relies in part on Federal grant resources to provide education to underserved, minority individuals. The NACTEP funds are a great resource for Native American colleges to provide educational opportunities and expand programs.
The proposed extension will not only assist OLC with and additional year, but it will also offer a buffer in the gap between funding years. The extension will provide time to seek other funding sources and increase the capacity of the college.
