Summary: An E-2 visa investor supports the proposal to establish an optional expedited processing service for E visas. The commenter argues that current delays cause significant financial hardship for small businesses and that an expedited option would help investors launch businesses sooner, creating jobs and economic growth.
I strongly support the Department’s proposal to establish an optional expedited processing service for E visa applications. As an E-2 investor, I have experienced firsthand how delays in the overall visa process can significantly impact small businesses and the U.S. economy. Our E-2 application was determined to be documentarily complete and ready for interview on mid June. However, the earliest available interview appointment was not until mid-to-late September, adding nearly three months of waiting despite having completed all required steps. For E-2 investors, time is critical. Many applicants have already made substantial financial commitments, including investing capital, signing commercial leases, purchasing equipment, entering into vendor agreements, and preparing to hire U.S. employees. Extended delays before an interview can lead to ongoing business expenses without the ability to begin operations, creating unnecessary financial hardship and delaying job creation and economic activity in the United States. An optional expedited processing service would provide a valuable solution for investors with time-sensitive business obligations. Many E-2 applicants would willingly pay an additional fee for faster processing and greater certainty, allowing them to launch their businesses sooner while generating employment, tax revenue, and economic growth. I respectfully encourage the Department to finalize and implement this proposal as soon as possible. Expedited processing would strengthen the attractiveness of the E-2 program, better support legitimate investors, and help ensure that the United States remains a competitive destination for foreign investment and entrepreneurship.
