Asa medical doctor with 25 years experience taking care of immigrant children and families, the federal change in excluding immigrants coming to this country based on public charge is overly complicated and not based on evidence. I have cared for many people with obesity ,diabetes, hypertension, tattoos, depresion and anxiety and with lost cost treatment of medical issues, have resolution of symptoms and become people who greatly benefit the US. They work, pay income taxes, buy homes, send their children to schools and these 2nd generation children go to college and become our future doctors, lawyers, teachers, etc. Excluding someone based on tattoos received as part of cultural practice is also discriminatory and makes no sense. I have provided care for 1000's of children and families from other countries over my career and have seen children thrive. These are the most resilient people I know who speak several languages and add so much to the US. This xenophobia is so misplaced. Our current president is an immigrant, most federal government officials are immigrants. My grandparents immigrated to the US. This makes no sense and is overly burdensome to the physicians who must follow these over complicated, non data driven rules.
