Subject: Comment in Support of Docket DOS–2026–0694, Medical Examination for Visa or Immigration Benefit I support the Department of State's proposed revision and continuation of the information collection for the Medical Examination for Visa or Immigration Benefit (OMB Control Number 1405-0230). The collection of medical information through Forms DS-2054, DS-3025, DS-3026, DS-3030, and DS-7794 serves an important governmental purpose. These forms help ensure that visa and immigration decisions are based on accurate and standardized medical information, including the identification of communicable diseases of public health significance and other conditions relevant to immigration eligibility. I am particularly supportive of efforts to improve the quality, clarity, and efficiency of the medical examination process. Accurate medical documentation can help reduce uncertainty for applicants and adjudicators alike. When immigration officers have reliable information regarding an applicant's health and ability to meet statutory requirements, decisions can be made more consistently and fairly. This is especially important with respect to public charge determinations. The notice explains that the collection is used to evaluate factors related to public charge inadmissibility under INA § 212(a)(4). A clear, evidence-based medical assessment helps ensure that public charge concerns are evaluated using objective information rather than assumptions. This can alleviate unnecessary negative effects on applicants by providing a factual basis for decision-making and reducing the likelihood that individuals are incorrectly viewed as likely to become a public charge. I also support the Department's continued efforts to modernize the process through electronic submission options where possible. Electronic collection reduces administrative burdens, improves efficiency, and can speed processing for both applicants and government agencies. For these reasons, I support the proposed information collection and encourage the Department to continue improving the process in ways that maintain public health protections while ensuring fair and efficient adjudication of immigration benefits.
