Summary: An OB/GYN is urging the agency to adopt the newly proposed codes and move away from the antiquated billing model. The commenter argues that the current system leads to payment denials and that the new codes are essential for providing adequate patient care.
The newly proposed codes replacing global obstetric care are imperative. I URGE you AGAINST ADOPTING G-CODES that support the antiquated billing model. As an Ob/Gyn for the last 10 years insurance companies have denied payment for much of the work required to provide adequate patient care. Rolling out new codes and continuing the old codes, allowing insurance companies to "choose" which codes to use would be DISASTROUS. ACOG has offered multiple coding webinars to inform both providers and payers about these changes. Clarity is ESSENTIAL moving forward for material healthcare. Please do not undue the hard work ACOG has put into the new system. Thank you.
