Summary: The commenter opposes the creation of a specific billing code for AI in hospitals, arguing that it would lead to the replacement of human medical staff with technology. They express concern that AI lacks the nuanced judgment of human providers and that prioritizing cost-saving over human care will negatively impact patient outcomes.
There are many people who provide medical services already in the hospital that don't have a billing code. AI is supposed to be a tool to aide people. Not the other way around. If we allow AI to have it's own billing code hospitals will for go the people that are part of that facility fee and try to use AI to replace them, but AI is not a person. It may have a lot of knowledge but it doesn't know how to use that knowledge that's not textbook care. The patient will suffer more so that hospitals can save some money. People already are not the main focus of all the choices on medical care. Please don't make it so much worse. Once this door e, it doesn't close. CMS-2026-2377-0002
