Summary: The commenter opposes the proposed action, arguing that monetizing and legislating AI in healthcare will deprioritize human medical professionals, lead to worse patient outcomes, and create significant liability issues. They advocate for maintaining the "human touch" and real-person training in medical care.
Every day this country feels more and more like a dystopian cautionary tale. You KNOW this is wrong. You KNOW this is being done solely for profit, there is no other reason you would develop a billing code for AI when you can't even bill for nurses. AI is, at best, a tool, not a doctor or even a person completing a task. Not only will this deprioritize and lead to loss of jobs for nurses, it is going to lead to worse outcomes for the patients. Patients already struggle to get facetime with medical providers, if you priotize AI over nurses and other medical professionals, which is what this will ultimately do, they will get even less time with a physical person listening to them, taking their problems seriously, and treating them. We the people, the patients, do not want AI being utilized for our care. We want real people with real training. This shouldn't even be a consideration. I strongly urge you to not allow changes that would monetize the use of AI in healthcare and would go so far as to legislate the use of AI in healthcare as jobs for humans are important as is the human touch and training that AI does not provide or have. Furthermore, there is no way to hold AI accountable for anything - who is liable if AI is being utilized and ultimately results in injury or death of the patient? AI cannot serve time in jail.
