Summary: A compliance officer for an EHR company and OB/Gyn subject matter expert supports the proposed changes. They argue that the current changes are necessary to resolve issues with Medicaid secondary payments and urge the agency not to introduce additional new codes.
I am a current Compliance officer for an EHR company that has been diligently following these changes since the earlier proposal that was postponed and attended all live AMA sessions and are also a 20 year OB/Gyn SME. There is NO WAY it is tenable to expect all systems across the country to adopt both and them propose new G codes to compensate for what people do not agree with. This has been public for a lengthy amount of time and had arguments posed from various members and non members of ACOG, physicians, and plenty of arguments at the table and the new codes were adopted. If the payers and the EHR systems have already prepared for the new codes spent time and resources using the information AMA released publicly, there is NO LOGICAL reason to introduce yet new G codes to further confuse and upset even more than are currently upset about the changes. I have been in OB billing my entire adult life and this change is welcomed!!! I have been in all areas including Coding, payer contracting, provider education, you name and I assure you they will all adapt just fine and this will resolve the never ending issue of Medicaid 2ndary when they dont recognize global. Please do NOT make any further changes. Thank you for your time and attention in this matter.
