Summary: A patient expresses concern that the proposed 2027 CMS rule will lead to longer wait times, fewer follow-up visits, and less one-on-one time with doctors. The commenter opposes the rule, fearing it will jeopardize their access to quality care and threaten the viability of independent physician practices.
I am a patient who relies on my physicians for ongoing care, and I am worried about this proposed 2027 CMS rule. If it goes through, I am afraid I'll face longer wait times for appointments, need more follow-up visits to get the same care I get today, and get less one-on-one time with my doctors. Independent physician practices — including family practice, pediatrics, dermatology, and many other specialties that care for me and my family — may also struggle to stay open, which would make it harder for me and others in my community to get timely care. Please do not finalize this rule as proposed — I need continued access to quality medical care from the physicians I trust.
