Comment on CFTC-2026-1157, CFTC-2026-1157-0001, Debra, Nudel

Dear OMB I am a clinical psychologist at Yale/Yale-New Haven Hospital who is interested in being able to share my research and scholarship internationally and to collaborate with other researchers throughout the world. I am writing to strongly oppose Sections 200.205, 200.454, and 200.461 of OMB-2026-0034-001, which downgrade the importance of peer review while elevating politically motivated approval and reducing support for researchers to interact with each other and the public. This goes against the foundations of quality work that has made our country a leader in the world of science. My work is to teach and support the concept of scholarship as a continual conversation. Researchers must access the work of others to improve their own work and come up with novel questions. The ability to access journals through subscriptions and attend conferences are necessary for this. Similarly, researchers need to be able to publish their work and make their findings accessible, which requires financial support. The outcomes of studies I read and share benefit my patients, my colleagues’ patients, and the younger clinicians I help train. Cutting off this process impedes such progress.
