Summary: The commenter, an infection preventionist, opposes the order to continue the suspension of the right to introduce certain persons from countries with quarantinable communicable diseases. They argue that the United States has sufficient regulations and preparedness to provide high-quality care to citizens who may be affected by the Ebola response.
I strongly oppose this ruling. Our country has strong regulations and preparedness to take care of patients that may be US citizens that have chosen to help with the Ebola response. I am an infection preventionist and have attended multiple educational sessions from my regions level 1 special pathogens center. They are very good at what they do. Our citizens deserve the best care possible. We are more than prepared to handle these cases, and owe it to our citizens to not turn our backs on them in the time of most need.
