The Bureau of Land Management's mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. In Co this means the BLM is managing about 8 million acres of precious public lands to live up to the stated mission; and about 27 million acres of minerals. The timing is right to ask us people what we think. Thank you for the opportunity! I think the timing is perfect for the BLM to take control and help Congress understand the seriousness of the mission and the existing policies that are damaging the BLM mission focused on the word stewardship. There is plenty of evidence nationwide that the burning of fossil fuels is unhealthy, expensive, harmful to people's health, especially the elderly and children. Burning fossil fuels is the number one cause of human-caused climate change. In CO right now we are suffering from the destruction of 16 wildfires burning, expected flash floods and mudslides; triple digit temperatures and afternoon monsoon storms and a severe water shortage that is impacting the flow of the CO River. Our forest, natural habitats, and wildlife are also in trouble. According to 350.org we have reached an unsafe, unhealthy carbon measurement of 400 ppm. Given this evidence, it would be wrong for the BLM to adopt the Proposed Rule. Instead the BLM could be the one to convince Congress that it's time to make a drastic change to renewable energy that includes wind, solar and geothermal. For these reasons, I think the Proposed Rule should be eliminated, edited and rewritten to use the word "Unleashing Renewable Energy."
