Summary: The commenter opposes the proposed modifications to oil and gas leasing regulations, citing concerns over human health, air pollution, and climate change. They urge the BLM to prioritize the protection of vulnerable populations and to consider the cumulative health impacts of fossil fuel development.
Please accept my comment in reference to BLM-2025-0037-0001. Any expansion of oil and gas development negatively affects human health through air pollution, climate change, and environmental contamination. I demand that BLM protect vulnerable populations, including children, older adults, pregnant people, Tribal communities, rural residents, and communities with disproportionate pollution burdens. I urge BLM to ensure decisions are guided by the best available scientific and medical evidence. Finally, I recommend maintaining strong financial assurance requirements so taxpayers are not left responsible for cleaning up abandoned oil and gas wells.Encourage BLM to fully consider the cumulative health impacts of increased fossil fuel development when making leasing decisions.
