Summary: The commenter argues that private companies leasing public lands for profit should be held strictly accountable for cleaning up pollution caused by their activities. They advocate for stricter regulations to ensure that "public" lands are protected from environmental damage by private interests.
Public lands are “public” because they’re owned by all Americans.
When land owned by everyone is leased to private (special) interests to make a profit, and their activities cause pollution to the air, water, and lands owned by the public, they should be required by law and regulation to clean it up. It’s what we teach our kids: “clean up your mess.” It’s as simple as that.
