Summary: The American Chemistry Council, representing the Toluene & Xylene Panel, is requesting a 90-day extension of the public comment period for the Draft Toxicological Profile for Xylenes. They argue that more time is needed for their scientific experts to conduct a thorough review and provide meaningful, science-based input.
Subject: Request for Extension of Public Comment Period – Draft Toxicological Profile for Xylenes. On behalf of the American Chemistry Council (ACC) Toluene & Xylene Panel, we respectfully request that the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) extend the public comment period for the Draft Toxicological Profile for Xylenes by 90 days beyond the current deadline of August 3, 2026. The draft profile represents a comprehensive and technically complex evaluation of toxicological and epidemiological data. Additional time is necessary for our scientific experts to conduct a thorough review, compile relevant data, and develop meaningful, science-based comments. Providing this extension will help ensure that stakeholder input is complete, accurate, and useful to ATSDR’s review process. We appreciate your consideration of this request. Respectfully submitted, Neeraja K Erraguntla Director, Chemical Products& Technology American Chemistry Council Toluene & Xylene Panel
