It would appear that a person who cannot manage their economic benefits would benefit from not having the challenge of managing a lethal weapon as a part of their life.
Mentally ill people who have not been adjudicated or hospitalized already have perpetrated carnage upon innocent citizens of the United States, of all ages.
Therefore, it would seem that people even further along the problematic mental health continuum should be subject to reasonable skepticism about their gun safety ability. Perhaps introducing a mechanism like a dangerousness assessment could be introduced to see if a person's condition has changed sufficiently to make it safe for them to possess a lethal weapon.
