Summary: An individual commenter supports the removal of the factoring criteria for firearms with attached stabilizing braces. They argue that the previous regulation was an overreach of administrative power and advocate for the eventual revocation of the NFA and GCA.
regarding Docket No. ATF-2026-0335; ATF No. 2025R-11P] RIN 1140-AA98.
I am writing to express my happiness that this section of the definition of a rifle is being removed. It should not have been added in the first place because modifications of regulations are the province of Congress not administrative organizations. It seemed to be a modification simply designed to expand the ability of the ATF to stick their nose into more honest citizens' business. No benefit to the safety of citizens, just a way to expand the NFA while bypassing the voice of the people by dodging Congress. This after a decade of reversing their opinions on braced pistol from just fine to a felony for the same hardware.
In my opinion this path should be continued via the revocation of the NFA and the GCA as unconstitutional under the Second Amendment.
