Summary: The commenter supports the proposed rulemaking to clarify interstate transportation of firearms. They argue that current judicial interpretations have created inconsistent protections for legal gun owners and that the rule will restore uniform treatment across the country.
I fully support proposed rulemaking RIN1140-AA73.For several decades activist judges in the Third Circuit have interpreted the Firearms Owner Protection
Act (FOPA) to undermine it's very purpose and to negate protectionfor legal gun owners that Congress intended. This law disrupted FOPA's uniformly
throughout the U.S.and created a patchwork of inconsistent protection for those travelling with firearms.A traveler is entitled to uniform treatment
under the law and should not be imperiled just because he or she is travelling in NJ or any other location.
Thank you for recognizing this travesty and for fixing it with this proposal rule.
