I want to take a movement to write in support of the proposed rulemaking RIN 1140-AA73. For several decades the Firearm Owner Protection Act has been interpreted in my state, NJ, in such a way that the purpose of Congress’s intent with the legislation has been undermined, and removes the protections for legal gun owners that Congress intended. The entire point of FOPA was to create a uniform set of predictable rules for citizens across the United States for those engaging in legal interstate movements. A traveler is entitled to uniform treatment under the law, and should not be imperiled just because he or she happens to be traveling in New Jersey or any other location. Thank you for taking the protections afforded to our citizens by the constitution and law seriously.
