I am writing to OPPOSE the proposed rule RIN 1140-AA89. Removing the pre-travel approval
requirement means owners of machine guns, short-barreled rifles, and destructive devices can cross
state lines with these weapons without any prior government review. Public safety should take
priority over convenience by maintaining strong oversight of how these weapons move across state
lines and ensuring they do not end up in places where they are prohibited. Illegal weapons trafficking is at the root of gangs in Haiti being able to control 85% of Port-au-Prince and other important routes through the country. The gangs are better armed than the police with military grade weapons. 1.5 Million persons are internally displaced. Please do not allow this rule change which would make it easier for large amounts of guns and ammunition to end up in the hands of gang members.
