Summary: An individual expresses support for the proposed changes to the Form 4473, arguing that the current form is redundant, archaic, and confusing. The commenter suggests that using information from government-issued photo IDs would be more efficient and streamline the process.
I am in favor of these proposed changes to simplify and reduce the form 4473. As a person who has filled out more than one form 4473 in my life, it has at many times baffled me why a person must go to the trouble to clearly print information on an (often to short) line on the form 4473 when the same information is recorded on the government issued photo ID that the FFL photo copies. It just seems to be pointlessly redundant, archaic, and time consuming when a photo copy of a drivers license is so much more efficient. I also agree that particular sections and structures of the form 4473 are confusing, particularly the similarity of the words county and country have had me doing double and triple takes on this form. In conclusion I am in favor of these and similar proposed changes to form 4473 that would shorten/simplify/streamline/and lessen confusion with the process of filling out this form .-Thankyou
