Hi, my name is Charissa Callison.
I am writing to share how important the health of public lands is to my family. Having grown up hiking and exploring in the Northwest and now a mom to three young daughters, the health and safety of our public lands is crucial. I want to be able to take my children to explore nature and hike through beautiful areas without worrying about harming their health through insecticide exposure. It is horrifying to me how much land is sprayed. It is a huge and harmful risk for native pollinators, water quality and the biodiversity of our lands. It is not worth that risk. There needs to be specific steps in place to protect pollinators, other wildlife, and the water that we all rely on. The land should not be indiscriminately sprayed and if there are areas that are proven to need it, then there absolutely needs to be clear public notification of when and where that is taking place. It is not okay to put people at risk of exposure without warning them. Please take the right steps to ensure that our public lands are protected from these risks and for the generations to come.
