I support the proposal to revise and extend information collection associated with regulations to prevent the introduction of highly pathogenic avian influenza and Newcastle disease. The disease is known to spread through poultry, wild birds, cattle, cats and humans and proves to be fatal in some cases (CDC, 2026). As mentioned in the proposal, these diseases can have a death rate of almost 100% in unvaccinated poultry while also causing death in vaccinated flocks. Although rare, death in humans may still occur. Regulations inhibit/ restrict the importation of diseased products or products from an area that has carried disease previously. Extending, enhancing, and revising information collection is an important step to reduce the risk of disease and death in American poultry, wildlife, and human life.
