Summary: The commenter supports the extension of the information collection regarding avian influenza. They argue that captive birds pose a significant public health risk and advocate for stricter regulations, including bans on live sales in pet stores and limits on bird populations in farming and research settings.
I support the extension of information collection for avian flu. Avian flu is a public health risk that is greatly exacerbated by the keeping of captive birds, whether as pets, in agriculture, or research. We must have greater information and restriction on these practices. The agency must begin tightly regulating the keeping of birds, banning their live sale in pet stores and greatly restricting the amount that farming and research are allowed to keep in close quarters.
