I strongly approve of the restriction on imports of poultry products. Bird flu is a major threat to the American public, as well as harming wild bird populations. Poultry are one of the highest risk carriers, and the structure of intensive farming systems greatly increase this risk. The US has the chance to take pre-emptive action to prevent another pandemic, and should do so. Public health must be prioritized. Restriction of imports will help to control and map the movement of possible disease vectors.
